Midterm Advice

We know exams are stressful so here are some tips from e-board to make this midterm season a little easier.

Vanita - Don’t stress about the exam after it’s over. It’s easy to freak out after an EECS exam - everyone does! It is really hard to predict how a CS exam went and stressing about it won’t do any good. Just treat yourself for trying your best and finishing an exam because that itself is worth a pat on the back. :) Everything will work out!

Rachel - Review lecture material/homework and make your own test questions a few days before the exam to practice!

Shaunna - I think the best advice I could give for studying for exams in know when you’re done. Don’t worry about staying up all night to study. It will only stress you out more.

Sophia - Go to office hours to understand how they want the question to be answered and what they are looking for.

Vania - I definitely think it’s super important to give yourself enough time to study. Try blocking off time in your calendar or setting some time aside to study a bit each day instead of cramming the night before. Also, personally, listening to some chill lofi beats while studying for exams works really well for me!

Doris - Always do as many past exams as possible and go to as many office hours as you can.

Katia - Remember that this is one 2 hour exam during your entire lifetime and how you do on it won’t determine if you are successful or not. It’s really easy to get caught up in grades but when you look at the big picture, one bad grade on an exam won’t be the end of the world. Once I realized that, I actually became much more relaxed when taking exams and ended up doing better.

Good luck everyone!
